🇫🇷 Switches replacement at Paris-Nord station
TSO, accompanied by its subsidiaries TSO CATENAIRES, FVF, and SAGES, mobilised with SNCF Réseau, took part in the largest switch replacement project in Europe at Paris-Nord station as part of the RAVI programme.
This project, the largest of 2024 for this station, is part of a comprehensive programme to renew and modernise the railway tracks in the ÃŽle-de-France region. The aim is to make the network more efficient, resilient, and adapted to the needs of passengers.
The scope of the work includes the replacement of 43 switches, some of which have been in use for over 40 years, using heavy logistics such as the Kirow crane – a lifting crane with a reach of 26 m, capable of handling and lifting to 100 tonnes – as well as lorry gantries to assist in the installation of the new track devices.
This project required 4 months of preparation, meticulous planning, and 12 blitz operations to minimise the impact on the H, K, and TER lines towards the Hauts-de-France region, which now benefit from improved performance.
This project demonstrates TSO and its subsidiaries’ commitment to modernising the railway network in the Île-de-France region, as well as their ability to deploy exceptional resources for the most ambitious projects.
