🇫🇷 Upgrading of the Lourches-Valenciennes line
- Location
- Pas-de-Calais - France
- Type
- Track renewal
TSO, in cooperation with SNCF Réseau, has taken part in track and under-track works as part of the project to rehabilitate and modernise the Lourches-Valenciennes railway line.
This project has several long-term objectives: to ensure better quality of service on daily freight and passenger journeys, to return the line to its initial performance with a nominal speed of 90 km/h, to ensure the long-term future of traffic on this line, which serves the region’s fine services, and to enhance passenger comfort and safety.
The scope of the works includes the renewal of track and ballast over almost 11 kilometres.Â
To carry out this work, TSO has deployed its DRL-C mechanised replacement train, developed in partnership with Scheuchzer. The DRL-C combines a ballast cleaning machine, a ballast screening machine and the laying of new sleepers in a single work train. This train ensures greater efficiency on track and ballast renewal sites.Â
This project demonstrates the commitment of TSO and its subsidiaries to modernising not only the country’s fine-rail lines, but also the rail network as a whole, to ensure access to an efficient and reliable mode of transport.Â
