Project
Location

Type
Track laying

A consortium led by TSO (lead contractor), Guintoli and EIFFAGE is building the southern section of the 5.5 km long track between Caen SNCF station and the new “Grace de Dieu” station, part of Caen’s new tramway system.

The aim of this project is to provide a new public transport system for the urban area, offering a new, more reliable and comfortable mobility solution to the thousands of passengers who use this line.
Interconnections with the other two lines, T1 and T3, have also been made to improve service.

The scope of the work includes:

  • Carrying out the design studies
  • Removal of the 2 rails and the overhead contact line
  • Demolition of the platforms
  • The supply and installation of platforms, stations, tracks, switches, the new overhead contact line, as well as urban amenities and mineral surfacing

In total, almost 64,000 passengers will use this new sustainable mobility solution, improving the quality of life in the conurbation and guaranteeing better access to major economic areas. An illustration of the ability of TSO and the NGE Group to carry out the most ambitious urban transport projects throughout France.
